We offer a range of specialized services tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals and families. Our goal is to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed care that supports healing and growth.
Trauma from the past can cast a shadow over your present, affecting relationships, self-esteem, and emotional well-being. Whether you are struggling with PTSD, anxiety, attachment difficulties, or spiritual trauma, we provide a safe space for adults and children to heal. Treatment of trauma, especially childhood abuse and neglect or sexual trauma, requires specialized training. At Safe Haven Psychology Center, you are in skilled hands. Integrating a deep knowledge of trauma with treatments including trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), we will find the right fit for you or your child. Learn more about EMDR here.
We understand that trauma, life transitions, and existential questions can impact your spiritual beliefs and that sometimes experiences in faith communities come with baggage. Whether you're wanting a therapy approach that respects and thoughtfully engages your faith, Christian faith integration in therapy, support through faith deconstruction/reconstruction, experiencing spiritual trauma, or struggling with church hurt, we provide a safe, non-judgmental space to explore and heal your relationship with your spirituality. This includes individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community who might want to seek healing and recognition of their layered identities and experiences. Read more about the Safe Space Alliance here.

You may be thinking, "Does anyone see kids around here?!" Finding a child therapist can be a serious challenge! Children have unique needs and working with them requires specific training. Whether your kid is anxious, throws tantrums, or has been through a tragedy, trauma, or hardship, we're here to help. Being trained at Harbor UCLA, UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and and Human Behavior, TIES for Families, Children's Hospital Los Angeles's Project HEAL (child trauma specialty mental health clinic), Western Youth Services, and currently training in Synergetic Play Therapy, we come to this work with extensive experience and expertise to help your child find their way to thriving - and back to their regular schedule! Reach out today to see if we are a good fit for what you're looking for.
Though evening hours fill quickly, we will work hard to find a solution for you. Prioritizing your child's mental health is not without sacrifice but early intention will save much suffering (and time and cost) in the long run.
Our goal is to get your child back to flourishing as quickly as possible so that they can enjoy school and extra curricular activities and continue on their journey without therapy. Sometimes this means that those other activities have to adjust to allow for therapy in the short-term. This may include providing a note to the school, providing telehealth sessions, focusing on parent sessions (we love working with parents!), or other creative options. And of course if we have current or anticipated evening availability, we will let you know.
Finding a therapist can be really hard especially when you are in the field yourself. It can be a challenge to feel like you can let go of being the "expert" in the room, when you really just need to be the client for once. With extensive experience in supervising, training, and providing therapy for therapists, you've come to the right place. Schedule a brief consultation to see if Dr. Berg-Martinez is the right fit for you.
For therapists in training, reduced rates may be available.

We understand that identity is a complex thing, with many aspects of who you are needing recognition. We respect and acknowledge the many parts of your identity and the unique ways these aspects of who you are might overlap, intersect, or come in conflict. If you are looking for a place where all parts of you can have space, we are here. This includes gender, sexual identities, LGBTQIA+ community, disabled and neurodiverse, and BIPOC clients who are seeking understanding, particularly those who have experienced spiritual hurt or harm because of different aspects of who they are with recognition that many systems are not built in their favor.
We integrate liberation psychology and theology, mujerista psychospirituality, feminist and womanist theory, and humbly seek ever-expanding understanding.
