At Safe Haven Psychology Center, we are dedicated to helping individuals and families heal from the deep, often unseen wounds of trauma, attachment disruption, and relational injury. Our work is rooted in the understanding that meaningful, lasting change happens through safe relationships and deep emotional exploration.
Guided by the principles of trauma-informed care, attachment theory, and contemporary depth psychology, we offer a relational and scientifically grounded approach to healing. We honor each person’s unique story — including the cultural, spiritual, and relational systems that shape their experience — and support growth through a blend of evidence-based practices and relational depth.
Founded by Dr. Rachael Berg-Martinez, a licensed clinical psychologist with specialized training in trauma, attachment, and perinatal mental health, Safe Haven Psychology Center is committed to creating a safe, compassionate space where resilience, hope, and authentic connection can take root again.

Led by Dr. Rachael Berg-Martinez, a licensed clinical psychologist with extensive training and experience in trauma, attachment, and perinatal mental health, our practice integrates scientifically supported therapies and depth psychology with a deep respect for your cultural, spiritual, and relational values. We offer a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore, heal, and grow at your own pace.

Dr. Berg-Martinez founded Safe Haven Psychology Center to provide a dedicated space for individuals and families seeking support, expert guidance, and healing after trauma. Safe Haven Psychology is a place where you can find trauma-informed care and attachment-based therapy. We provide answers, healing, and growth and find your way back to joy, compassion, and confidence in relationships.
The name ‘Safe Haven’ reflects an essential component of the attachment system — offering a kind, wise, safe, and comforting presence in the face or fear and hurt that helps the person make sense of confusing and overwhelming experiences. Our logo symbolizes this growth, with exploration of the deep, unseen roots of what can be seen on the outside. The nesting doll and keyhole symbol represent the work we must do to nurture, protect, and guide the parts of ourselves within that deepen and strengthen our relationships with others including partners and children.
Whether you're seeking adult trauma therapy, child therapy, parent support, or psychological testing, Safe Haven Psychology Center is here to guide you toward clarity, healing, and connection.
Approach: We engage with each person with genuine compassion and a deep curiosity about their experiences, emotions, and needs, to understand where they are rooted and help make lasting change.
Trust and Exploration: We build strong, safe, and trusting relationships that facilitate deep exploration and healing. Our goal is to help you confront and transform any sources of fear, shame, anger, and pain, which will help in reshaping relational patterns and finding new, meaningful outcomes.
Cultural Humility: We consider and integrate cultural, familial, interpersonal, and systemic factors in understanding and addressing your concerns. We recognize and respect the complexities of these elements in your mental health and healing journey.
Spiritual Integration: Your religious beliefs, faith, and spirituality are welcomed into the therapy room.
Safety and Sensitivity: We prioritize creating a non-judgmental and safe therapeutic environment by addressing trauma with sensitivity. Our primary goal is to support clients in reclaiming their sense of empowerment while understanding the impact of trauma on relationships, including intergenerational aspects and the impact on partner and parent-child relationships. We incorporate an understanding of the neurobiology of attachment, adoption, and trauma into our approach.
Scientific Rigor and Improvement: We are committed to high standards by integrating scientifically-supported methods. We continuously strive to improve and stay current with best practices to ensure the highest quality of care in all aspects of our practice.
